Setting Up Your Jethro SC490

Here at Jethro, we genuinely listen to concerns and questions our customers have about our phones and service plans. A most common question is how to set up the Jethro SC490 cell phone once it arrives. There are many important components within this phone, but do not worry! Within this article, a walkthrough is provided of every step to make sure your Jethro phone can be used to the best of its ability!


Here is how to set up the Jethro SC490 phone step-by-step.


Inside there is the SC490 phone and a 3 in 1 SIM card that has yet to be punched out. The SIM card should look like this:

Once the SIM card is punched out, it will look like this:



Note: There are multiple “frames” for the SIM card to be punched out of, as there are 3 different SIM card sizes.

The SC490 Jethro phone can only work with a “Mini” SIM card. This may seem confusing because the “Mini” SIM card is the largest SIM card.


Once the prepaid SIM card is punched out, you are ready to insert it into the phone. Now let’s open up the back of the SC490 phone.


Step 1: Turn the phone over, and in the bottom left corner, there is an indent to open up the back of the phone. It might take a little more force to open than you would expect, do not worry about the back snapping.

Step 2: Once the back of the phone is open, you have to put the SIM card into it. Punch the Sim card out of the card it is currently in, so the card looks like this:

Step 3: At this point, the setup should look like this:

Step 4: Now it is time to insert the SIM card. The next step is to slide the SIM card with the silver square chip facing down. This is what it will look like:



Step 5: You can now turn your phone right side up again. Now place the battery on top of the SIM card.

Step 6: You have successfully set up the Jethro senior cell phone! Now put the back on the phone and hold down the red button, and you are all set! Enjoy!
